Need Help? We are here for you.
Spectrum Support Coordination supports children, adolescents and young adults with ASD and psychosocial disabilities, along with adults who have physical disabilities and complex mental health.
Getting the right support for yourself or your loved one is so important, and sometimes that process can be hard to navigate when you are dealing with challenging behaviours in your home or managing your own physical disability.
That’s where Support Coordination can help ! We aim to provide the support and expertise needed to guide you through your interactions with the NDIS, and take time getting to know you, so that we can connect you with support that will best suit your needs and goals.
Have you just received an NDIS plan ? Unsure on where to start with your funding ? We can help. Spectrum Support Coordination simply offers Level 2 Support Coordination and Level 3 Specialist Support Coordination. This means we can concentrate purely on supporting you to get your plan and funding set up, plain and simple !
We can step you through your plan and help you work towards your individual goals by helping you find the very best support. We are a registered NDIS provider offering support in the Greater Geelong Region and Melbourne.

Many new participants receive their first NDIS plan, and the funding is confusing, and you’re not quite sure what all the categories mean and what you can spend it on. A Support Coordinator can work with you to explain how you can use your funding, work towards your goals and help you to understand the NDIS and your plan. A support coordinator can work with you for the length of your plan, as a check in person to help you navigate all the new stuff, and find supports for you that match your goals and expectations. Together with you and your family, we can work together to find the right people to help you on your journey.
-
Think of your support coordinator as resource of knowledge, someone that can explain and offer advice to all your queries. They can help you build up your network and help you get to know different supports by connecting you with the right people. The benefit of Support Coordination is to help you to become independent, by working together with you to make life easier. Support coordination can help you to build lifelong networks, skills and connections to help you become - and remain - independent. It is particularly useful during periods of transition in your life - such as starting school, university or work or moving to a new home or area.

A good support Coordinator will tailor their skills specifically to your individual goals and requirements, they’ll take time to get to know you, and help you to engage with the most appropriate supports to suit you and your goals.
Help you to understand your NDIS plan, your funding, and what goals relate to each different funding category
Your support coordinator can help you get set up on the NDIS Portal, and teach you how to navigate your plan electronically.
Work with you on your goals, and link you into appropriate supports to get you there , like therapy, community groups and home help.
Help you to find and engage with the community support and networks that you’re interested in, and also think creatively to find you options that you may not have thought of. A support coordinator can support you through points of crisis , and help you to engage with services that can assist you.
Ensure that you have service agreements and bookings in place with your providers.
Your Support Coordinator will work with you to gather evidence, assessments and reports from your therapeutic supports for the NIDS at the end of your plan, and work with you to establish your requirements for a new plan when the time comes. This process also takes time to listen to your plan and goals for the year ahead, and work through barriers and concerns that may have stopped you from fully achieving your goal.
Most of all, be a friendly and empathetic ear for you when things become a bit overwhelming!

A support coordinator and a specialist support coordinator sound similar and function in a similar way, but look after different NDIS categories of support.
Support coordination will help you plan and implement your supports and programs which are funded by the NDIS
Specialist support coordination will help if you have additional or more complex needs that can be funded by the NDIS as well as other community providers. Some of these needs could include:
● Psychological and mental health support
● Ongoing support from a social worker
Other supports are usually provided by support workers, allied health practitioners and others who assist you on a day to day basis.
This could include home support. For example, getting ready, community participation or therapeutic supports.
